I figured it out.

They say that ChatGPT is basically just predicting the most likely next word in a sentence, and I’ve always wondered how that could possibly be all it’s doing. I mean, it talks very differently than we do, and there’s nowhere on the internet where it could have simply learned to talk exactly the way it does. It tends to be grammatically correct and uses somewhat more sophisticated words than we normally do, at least on a certain level.
But what really makes me think and realize it is what it is doing when I can send them most terribly written text, full of horrible spelling, wrong words and or if I’m voice typing my phone’s horrible ability to misunderstand what I’ve said, and me having ADHD with not enough patience to re-read what I’ve written before I send it. I’ve sent some pretty bizarre things to ChatGPT, ( that a week later I’m not so sure if I could decode myself)and somehow it usually manages to figure out what I meant, at least for the most part.
Sometimes it thinks I meant to say a particular word which is not the correct word at all and corrects me though I said the wrong word on purpose.it also isn’t fool proof and sometimes will begin a discussion around that wrong word and I have to say that I know it was wrong and meant to say it the right way no need for the big explanation on why it was wrong . Buuut still the amount of stuff I spell wrong gets autoincorrected or what ever I am often shocked that the bot can pick out what I meant anyway
So I think that’s where the whole idea of predicting the most likely next word starts to make more sense to me. It can somehow figure out what I meant to say even when I didn’t actually say it correctly.
